The Experience

At the Baby Place, we believe that birth is a sacred event that must be honored as such. The impact of labor and birth on a woman is profound, and has the ability to empower families beyond our estimation. We believe there are many powerful elements operating in the birth process that must be respected and our role as midwives is not to try to control these elements, but rather to empower the woman and her partner to work with them in the most personal and effective way for the safest, healthiest outcome.

We always seek to balance the need to observe and monitor with the need to wait, watch and trust.

  After experiencing 2 hospital births with 2 different doctors, my husband and were unsure if we wanted more children. We didn't want to go through the "hospital experience" again. After a couple of years, immediately after the unexpected death of our second child, we found out we were (unexpectedly) expecting our 3rd child. Our hearts were in a very tender moment of our lives, and we knew we needed a different atmosphere to birth our child in than what we had found previously at a hospital. We sought out a Birthing Center and found The Baby Place. From the very beginning, we found a safe, comfortable, and relaxed atmosphere throughout my entire pre-natal care. The Baby Place staff was so loving, patient, and sincere, and they TRULY cared about us. The birth of our 3rd child was the absolute most spiritual experience I have ever had. It was simply amazing and so personally empowering! The difference between our hospital births and our Baby Place birth was not even in t he same vicinity of comparison. It was exactly what we needed at such a pivotal time in our lives. My heart was filled with love and joy. We loved the experience so much, we had our 4th child there 15 months later, and hope to expect to birth there again in the future.
