The Midwives

Dani Kennedy, CPM, LM

The whole process of birth has always amazed me. I was eleven when I watched my mother give birth to my little sister. Years later I witnessed both of my older sisters give birth naturally and I was awestruck by their determination and strength. I was overcome by the thought that this is how we all came into this world, some more gently and lovingly than others. I wanted to help more women and babies make that transition with dignity, grace and above all, peace. I became a Certified Doula in 2006 and began assisting families both in and out of hospital.

Working as a doula I became increasingly aware of the vast difference between midwifery care vs. hospital births. I loved it when I saw women empowered by their ability not only to give birth, but also to choose how and where it happened. I grieved when I saw mothers being stripped of their dignity, losing faith in themselves and their bodies. Birth is not an illness! I became passionate about protecting the birth experience for both mama and baby. This led me to the Baby Place, where I received excellent care in my own pregnancies, and began to pursue midwifery. I love providing respectful, safe care that honors the families I serve as a midwife. I feel humbled to take part in something so intricate and intimate, and hope I always do so with empathy, love and compassion.

Dani began studying midwifery in 2007 and became a Certified Professional Midwife in 2009.

After much soul-searching, Dani and her husband Johnny decided to follow their dreams and moved to Hawaii.  We miss them dearly and love when they come home to visit.  We wish Dani the very best with her life and her Island Mamas Midwifery Practice.

I had my own two children with the Baby Place Midwives in Meridian Idaho, where I also trained as a midwife.  I love this website as a resource and inspiration for families who are expecting.  These ladies are my sister midwives, and hold a very dear place in my heart.  Consider this website an extension of my own website, because I whole heartedly agree with this philosophy of care and approach to natural childbirth.”
