Your Birth
This is your birth. A completely personal event, we recognize that privacy helps some women feel safest to move through labor more comfortably. During labor and birth, we observe and monitor you unobtrusively.
Birth is not an illness. Unnecessary restrictions serve no purpose and only inhibit an otherwise normal process that is quite individual. At the Baby Place, we encourage you to eat, drink, and move around during labor as you wish. You are given the option to choose to birth in any position that feels right to you on a birth stool, in a full or supported squat (using our squatting bar), on your hands and knees, semi-reclining on the queen-sized bed, or in a birthing tub
With great trust in and respect for the healthy process of pregnancy and birth, we consistently affirm that your body was made to do this. We know what you are capable of and we acknowledge the innate wisdom of your body and your baby.
We provide you with a sensitive, safe environment; encourage the support of a doula and make available many natural comfort measures and techniques to allow you to cope effectively with labor and birth.

1“We learned in our second childbirth class that one of the major factors in a satisfying birth outcome is that the mother in labor must feel safe. This was the major difference between the birth of our first child with a certified nurse midwife in a hospital and the birth of our second child at the Baby Place under the care of the qualified and loving midwives who work there. Though we went into both experiences with the expectation of a natural birth, the first was a 30-hour nightmare that ended in snowball of interventions. My family can never express enough appreciation to the midwives at the Baby Place for providing the empowering and healing experience that was the birth of our second child. You all have a calling and are doing exactly what you should be doing in this world.” - Jen J.
